I'm just slightly confused about the relationship between the Americans & the Comanche. I realize they trade & have that in common, but the author also relates their relationship to that of the Spanish... but weren't the Spanish trying to get the Comanche to do what they wanted by trading & assumed they'd have some sort of control over them in return? I feel like I'm missing the connection or point, if at all relevent, help me out Dennis!
